Speechless

It is not often that I am speechless.  However, for the past few days, I have been rendered so as the result of a sore throat and cough.  (Think NyQuil commercial…)

Since spoken communication on my part was somewhat limited, Jason offered to use some of his sick time (since Mommy’s don’t get sick days!), to stay home and take care of Hannah (and me).  I took him up on the offer, and quarantined myself in our spare bedroom/office in order to avoid sharing these lovely germies with the rest of the family…and to avoid the temptation to talk when I really couldn’t/shouldn’t. 

Today, Hannah and I are on our own again.  I am still just barely able to speak above a whisper, so she is going to learn to be a very good listener!  Over the last few weeks she has had some struggles with listening and paying attention…and, as a result, obedience.  I have been at a bit of a loss as to how to deal with this, since though it is not a consistent pattern of behavior, it is still happening far too often.  The funny thing is, before this weekend, I was very seriously considering the idea of speaking to her in a whisper until she learned to listen!  Although this was not exactly the way I had hoped that it would come about, I am praying that it “does the trick!”

Since I am still operating through a bit of a cold-medicine induced fog, I thought I would share this e-mail that I got from my mother- and sister-in-law last week. (Great minds, huh?  )  Four things about me that you may or may not know in no particular order….
