Some recommended reading for the weekend:
- Matters of Tone, by my friend Jules, of Everyday Mommy – a good reminder that “that truth is [not] the trump card, that truth is [not] our free-pass to unrestrained, ungodly commentary.”
- A Kind and Painful Bruising, by C.J. Mahaney – “…criticism wounds the sin that has not been mortified.”
- And, for pastor’s wives: The Pastor’s Wife and Her Role When Criticism Arrives, also by C.J. Mahaney – “…come alongside him, help him perceive where his critic is accurate, help him see where sin remains in his heart, and help him seize the redemptive purpose of the criticism.”
- The Privilege of Raising Homemakers, by Jaime Worley, on Raising Homemakers – “Home is created intentionally.”
- Why I Don’t Blog, by Lisa, of Lisa Writes... – “Blogging or not blogging is a side issue to my earnest desire to be a woman consumed with one thing: Jesus Christ.”
- A Shift of Focus, by Michelle, of Some Girl’s Website – “…I briefly forsake my first love for my new love.”
I used to think that truth was our free pass. Not any more. Sadly, this is SOP on many of the most widely-read Christian blogs.
You are so right. And, I’m just tired of the crass, mean-spirited, mocking that so often goes on in the “Christian” blogging world. And, all in the name of “truth.” (Usually in the comments, but I’m seeing more and more flippant posts by prominent Christians with large followings…)
No love like link love, at least for a blogger (unless, of course, it’s comments which rank right up there with links as we all know… ha!).
Seriously, thanks for the link, friend! It’s encouraging to know someone else was encouraged…
