Biblical Womanhood, Quotes, Thinking Biblically

What Were You Made For?

You can’t make proper use of a thing unless you know what it was made for, whether it is a safety pin or a sailboat. To me it is a wonderful thing to be a woman under God – to know, first of all that we were made (“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”) and then that we were made for something (“The rib which the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.”)
.
This was the original idea. This is what woman was for.  The new Testament refers back clearly and strongly to this purpose: “For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.” Some texts are susceptible of differing interpretations, but for the life of me I can’t see any ambiguities in this one.

  1. I can’t see any ambiguities in this one either! This is THE message that I would hope all women would comprehend. Who we are is what God created. I want to magnify the me that God created me to be.

You said it much better, though! Wonderfully said – I am sharing your post because of its importance – with my Facebook fans at Husband’s Deepest Desire.

    I hope you don’t mind.

  2. Awesome! If women could get this order straight from the get-go – their lives would be so much better!!!

    Thanks for sharing!

I’m here from iFellowship – only a day late! I love making my way through the entire list – even if it takes me a couple of days! LOL!

    Enjoy your Thursday!

My mother was a teen mom…single. She had to rely on herself because she had nobody else. She married my father (tech. my stepfather) when I was young, but even with somebody else to lean on, my mother was strong in teaching me to rely on myself. To do for myself because nobody else is going to do it for me. This has always been at odds with what I really feel. So when I got married I fell into my natural role. I’m my husbands helper. I find my relationship with my husband curious, due to both of our upbringings. His mother was and is naturally dominant. My Father is naturally submissive. My husband was the same at first, but a relationship with two equally submissive people doesn’t always work. And for us it doesn’t. He’s growing into his role more and more as I’m growing into mine. It is amazing to know that this is natural for us, and this is what we were made for.

    1. Lacey, Isn’t it amazing what the Lord can do with 2 sinners, whose hearts and lives are redeemed, and wholly submitted to His will and His plan?!
