Hannah Elisabeth, Life

Misery Loves Company

Hannah had an appointment with her pediatrician this morning at 10:15.  We arrived at 10:10, and waited for about 30 minutes.  Typical, right?  Well, not usually.  Even though it requires a 40-minute drive to Glendale, we usually get in fairly quickly (10, maybe 15-minute wait).  When we finally got to see the doctor, he explained that he had been sick last week (which also explained why he couldn’t see her on Friday), and that he hadn’t left his house in days…He completely missed the time change, and was an hour late for work!!  Oops!!

Hannah was not happy to be there.  She is not a big fan of the doctor on her best days (what almost-2-year-old is?), and being sick, and miserable certainly did not help matters any.  Thankfully, Grandpa took the day off work, and came with us.  He managed to keep her smiling, and her mind off her surroundings until the nurse called her back.

Well, as it turns out, I was not just being overly-paranoid about all of this.  In fact, my worst-case-scenario suspicions were correct!!

Hannah has…are you ready for this?

Hannah has…are you ready for this?

A (slight) ear infection (in her right ear)

and…

A sinus infection,

and…

Bronchitis,

and…

Pneumonia (in her right lung)

And, no, I am not kidding.  I wish I were. Apparently, as the old saying goes, ”misery loves company!”

So, she is now on 2 different medications: an antibiotic (for the ear and sinus infections, and the pneumonia), and a cough medicine (for the bronchitis).  If we don’t see a drastic change by Wednesday we have to take her back in for x-rays (for the sinus infection and pneumonia).  But, I am praying that won’t be necessary!  We gave her a dose of the antibiotic this afternoon, along with some of the cough medicine when we got home, and that seems to have worked it’s magic.  She still has a horrible-sounding cough, and probably will for several more days.  But she was already in a much better mood this evening, and her energy level was way up from yesterday.  She got another dose of the cough medicine before bed, and I haven’t heard a cough yet!  It is looking like we may actually get a decent night’s sleep tonight!!  (Yay!)

We are so thankful that the Lord has taken care of our little girl, and given us all the strength to get through the long days (and longer nights!) of this past weekend.  Please continue to pray for her quick recovery.
