Joy in the Ordinary Everyday Life

Most days, I love being at home.  (If I didn’t absolutely have to leave my house, I don’t know that I ever would!)  And, on those days, I find great joy in the fact it is both my privilege and responsibility to turn our house into more than just a place to eat, sleep, and store our belongings.  I can clearly see evidence of God’s love and care for us as I go about my daily routine.  On those days, folding laundry, mopping the floor, picking up stray crayons, or dress-up clothes, dusting furniture, and cooking meals all become tangible reminders of God’s goodness and blessing.

Then, there is that other kind of day…

  3. Thanks so much for this post! As I prepare for yet another school year, it was a great way for me to renew and refresh my perspective. It also reminded me of a quote from Elisabeth Elliot that was in a recent issue of Kyle’s Worship Leader magazine.

This job has been given to me to do.

    Therefore, it is a gift.

    Therefore, it is a privilege.

Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God.

Therefore, it is to be done gladly,
if it is done for Him.

    Here, not somewhere else,
    I may learn God’s way.

In this job, not in some other,
    God looks for faithfulness.

    ~Elisabeth Elliot

May He find me faithful in all that He has called me to all He has called me to be.

    Blessings to you~
    Mendi

  4. Thanks for sharing. We all have days… and weeks… like this. And I often need to be reminded of God’s grace and provision thru every circumstance. Your posting today reminded me that this is a repeating cycle in my life… and caused me to ask, “didn’t I blog about this a while back?” Sure enough: http://princapecos.blogspot.com/2010/11/rejoice-always-really.html
