I’ve given up and gone to bed. It’s not my job to convince anybody. It’s the Holy Spirits. Apparently Pope John the 23rd used to end his day by saying something along these lines to God…It’s your church. I’m going to bed.
I think some battles are definitely worth fighting. But others – casting your pearls before swine, as it were – are simply not worth the time. I just found the cartoon amusing…seeing as how this has been me on multiple occasions! 🙂
I guess I just said I give up because the one time I tried to convince somebody over the internet, (because they came back and argued with me first), they kind of blew up at me. So I’ve just been writing my thing and letting people read. Also, in general, I have been trying to do a lot more of what I heard Fr. Corapi say: “Preach less, pray more.” That’s what gets me; the person who didn’t get what I was trying to tell them seemed to be a Christian who didn’t understand the power of prayer. So what more can I do besides, well, pray for her. And the cartoon was funny because my still very human side wants to argue back. I just know sometimes I ain’t gonna get through because, as you said, pearls before swine. Or as my husband says, they just aren’t in listening mode. Anyways, this turned out to be a very long comment, but before I go I’d like to invite everyone to my friend Lynnette’s blog party this coming week. The button is at the top of my blog. (Apparently these things are fun, though I’ve never done one, so I’m not yet sure why…)
I love this cartoon! That is totally me sometimes. I get all worked up. I think sometimes I hear my husband chuckling behind me just watching. There was a lot of late night typing when the whole TSA issue picked up in Oct/November. Just for an example. Sometimes I just let it go and go to bed… but then there are my soap boxes. 🙂
