Giving Thanks, Life in Ministry

Giving Thanks

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the LORD!”
~Psalm 122:1~

.

I realize that I have already mentioned our new church (more than) a few times.  But, you may as well get used to it…because I assure you, you will be hearing it again…and again.

.

I do not say this flippantly, or because it is what I, as a pastor’s wife, am “supposed to say.”  Nor do I want to be repetitive to the point where it loses all meaning (to me, or to you).  But, each week, each time we are with members of our new church, whether as part of a corporate, formal worship service, or in more informal times of fellowship, I am struck by how blessed we are to be a part of this particular body.

.

So, at the risk of sounding a bit like a broken record (again), this week, I am incredibly thankful…

.

…to be surrounded by like-minded men and women who love the Lord…

…who have  been through difficulties – in life, or in ministry – and are still shining testimonies of joy and grace…

…who prize God’s Word…

…to be led by men who take seriously the calling to teach it…

…and do so with passion!

…for simplicity…

…for the blessing and celebration of new lives…

…for genuine fellowship…

…and lingering conversations, well after the end of services…

…for the gift of hospitality…

…for laughter shared with new friends…into the wee hours of the night…or, rather, the morning!

.

I am what some would call a pessimist.  I typically see the glass as half-empty.  So, you’ll just have to trust me when I say that I realize that this church is not perfect (none are).  It has its own set of challenges, and issues, and struggles.  But, even so, I am so thankful that God has called us to this place, to be a part of this church, with these people.
