I was rudely awakened last night by this! A 4.5 earthquake, centered near Chatsworth (about 7 miles away)!
Thankfully, Hannah was unfazed by the whole event, and slept right through it!  (She has yet to feel her first earthquake!) I think she may take after her daddy, who also slept through the whole thing. He complains that he has not felt many “tremors†during his 10 years in “earthquake countryâ€! (Tremors is his word, and one I tease him about constantly. I cannot seem to make him understand that no self-respecting Californian describes an earthquake in that way…)
The big news was that some things had fallen off of store shelves in Chatsworth, and there was some damage to one nearby bridge, which was shut down (temporarily) because the expansion joints were about 3 inches off…because they did exactly what they were supposed to do! Of course, especially in light of recent events in Minnesota, I would much prefer that they take any and all necessary precautions! And, after waking up to a sea of red glass covering our dining room floor after the Northridge Earthquake (way back in 1994!), I am very relieved that the only damage done in our home was a little sleep lost.Â
Just a fun little tidbit to add:Â This afternoon, I saw Clayton Erb (the music pastor at this church) interviewed about the earthquake on the afternoon news!
