This one is mostly for the grandparents…Enjoy! Â
A few new Hannah-isms for your reading pleasure:Â Â
“That’s the best thing ever I’ve seen!â€Â (I don’t know where this one came from, but it’s pretty cute!)
Usually in response to naptime or bedtime:
“I ‘fraid not, Mommy. I ‘fraid not.â€
While playing outside with daddy:
“Hi Mr. Birdie! I’m Hannah, remember me? These are my friends. This is daddy, mommy, Katy and Charis.â€
In the grocery store:
“Mommy, lying is bad. Jesus doesn’t like lying.â€
“I go pee-pee in the Elmo potty!â€Â Then once she is safely on the potty, is followed by, “No, I not have to go pee-pee in the potty. All done!â€Â And then, as soon as she is fully clothed again, “Uh-oh. I go pee-pee in the Elmo potty!† Sometimes after dropping everything and running to the potty, we will wait for 20 minutes before anything happens…other times it is closer to 20 seconds! While I am glad that she actually wants to go on the potty, this little ritual can get a little frustrating for me. But, since we are still working on recognizing the “signs†that she needs to “go,†I’m not quite ready to associate this with the lecture that led to the lying comment above…yet.
“I not ever want to grow up!â€Â And no, this one does not have anything to do with Toys ‘R Us! At first I couldn’t figure out where this comment came from, until I asked “Why?â€Â And then, she answered “’Cause grown ups too busy to pray.â€Â (Talk about a convicting moment for mom!!)
This is a song (her current favorite) from the “Bullfrogs & Butterflies†CD. It is a conversation between 2 kids talking about who God is, what He has done for us, and how He hears and answers prayers. It is almost like a catechism with it’s question and answer format, and I love hearing her answer these questions as she sings along in the car, or sings “The Grown Up Song†to me. I pray that she will continue to grow in her understanding of who God is, and what He has done for her through His Son.
