Do you remember that scene in “You’ve Got Mail†where Meg Ryan’s character is sick? And, when Tom Hanks (Joe Fox) comes to visit, she is scrambling around the apartment picking up handfuls of discarded tissues…That is a very accurate (though rather disgusting) depiction of this past week in our home.Â
Tuesday morning…or more accurately, somewhere in the dark hours between Monday and Tuesday, I woke up with a cold. And, I have been pretty much useless ever since… I spent most of the week curled up on the couch with my blanket, a cup of the Good Earth Sweet & Spicy hot tea, and a box Kleenex. I went through almost an entire box before I switched to the kind with lotion…my nose will never forgive me! I have a new sympathy for my poor little girl! I don’t think I felt even half as bad as she did, and I probably complained twice as much!
Hannah, is definitely starting to feel better, and spent the week taking good care of her pathetic mommy. She was such a good girl!  She was so good about entertaining herself for hours with her kitchen, her puzzles, or legos, and every book she owns. Most of it stayed scattered around the living room, her bedroom, and generally all over the house until Friday. (When I was finally able to get myself off the couch!) Grandma and Grandpa came to our rescue on Wednesday night, while Daddy was at church…They brought dinner and played with Hannah. A side-effect of one of her medications is that it makes her extremely hyper…I don’t know how she managed to contain it when it was just the two of us! (I have not been the greatest playmate this week.)  When Grandma and Grandpa arrived she was running, dancing, and “getting dizzy†until bedtime! I think she was very thankful for someone to play with! (I know I was grateful for the rest!)
As of today, I am feeling much better…not quite 100%, but I no longer feel as though I am underwater. And, Hannah is well on her way to a full recovery…She is still working on finishing up her antibiotics, but she doesn’t seem to need the cough medicine nearly as often! I think we are finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
