Can you guess what I am going to say? I’m sure you can.  It is becoming something of a theme around here…
Hannah is sick. Again.  Quite honestly, I don’t think she really ever got well last time. She came down with a cold on February 15th…and has pretty much been coughing, sneezing, and blowing her nose ever since. There were a few days where things seemed to improve…but nothing drastic.  For the past week we have been operating under the assumption that the lingering cough was just the tail-end of things, and would clear up soon.Â
But…here we are, almost a month later, and the cough has gotten progressively worse. It sounds horridly painful!! Her nose has turned back into a little faucet (who knew that something so tiny could produce so much…well, there’s just no nice way to say it – so much snot!?). So, of course we are also back to marathon sessions with the nasal aspirator, though they don’t seem to be doing much for her.  She started running a low-grade fever Thursday night, which spiked to 103 on Friday afternoon. Thanks to several good doses of Tylenol and a few dunks in the bathtub the fever finally broke yesterday. But, that nasty cough is being stubborn!Â
She hardly slept at all last night – except for maybe a few restless hours propped up on mommy’s shoulder on the couch. And, naptimes haven’t been so pleasant either. We have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning to see if we can figure out what is going on in her little body.  Of course, I am frequenting WebMD’s Symptom Checker, and imagining all of the worst case senarios – bronchitis, pneumonia…that kind of thing.  But, I am praying that, whatever it is, it will be quickly diagnosed, and easily cleared up.  Â
She was once again kind enough to share her germs with Daddy, and he is now sniffling and coughing right along with her. Being that we were scheduled to work in the nursery this morning, I didn’t think anyone (especially the other parents) would appreciate the two of them sharing their germs any further, so they stuck around the house while I went to Sunday school, and worked our monthly nursery shift. Thankfully, Jason is still functional, though in a bit of a Sudafed-induced fog.
I may have become a bit over-zealous with the anti-bacterials in the past few weeks (or months) in my quest to rid our house of these unwanted visitors…but after everyone goes to bed tonight, I’m breaking out the Lysol and going to work!! I am determined to get everyone healthy so we can get out and enjoy this great weather!!
