Traditions & Celebrations

Happy Thanksgiving

This year, as we have every year, we spent Thanksgiving with my parents and sister.

Jo & HannahWe headed over for a few hours in the morning.  While my mom cooked, Jason and my dad took Hannah to the park, and my sister and I had fun sorting through old pictures.  We uncovered a lot of old memories…some of which I think we would both like to forget!  The ridiculous hairstyles from 8th grade, the glasses and braces phase (that was attractive!), and those oh-so-lovely candids that always seemed to catch me cross-eyed with my tongue sticking out…It’s no wonder I’d much rather be taking the pictures than in them!! Around lunchtime, we headed home so that Hannah could take a nap.  She doesn’t sleep well away from home – except maybe in the car – and she is not too pleasant to be around if she misses that nap!  Since my parents only live about 10 minutes away, this worked out great.

Table

HannahWe headed back over to grandpa and grandma’s house for dinner.  My mom cooked up a great meal – turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, broccoli cheese casserole, something I just call “white stuff” (sour cream with marshmallows, pineapple, and mandarin oranges – it’s good, trust me) and, my personal favorite, sweet potato pie.  Yum-o!

After dinner, we joined Hannah in the living room for dessert.  (When she decided that she’d had eCookie Monsternough turkey, we let her go play.  While we were finishing up our dinner, she climbed onto the couch to read to my old Cookie Monster puppet.)

We all agreed that it was a great way to spend the holiday.  We (except for maybe my mom, who had to cook everything) got to relax and just enjoy being together.
