I can’t believe I forgot to post this – I was so excited about it!!Â
Last week, we took advantage of the three-day-weekend, and made it our “project weekend.â€Â Actually, it was more like project evenings, since most of what we did was accomplished after Hannah went to bed. It took us three very long nights, but we managed to finish a project that has been hanging over our heads for several months!!Â
Since the day we looked at this house with our realtor, I have wanted to repaint pretty much every wall. Over the last year, we have made quite a bit of progress, repainting the entryway, living room, hallway, and dining room. Our kitchen and a beam that connects the kitchen, living room, and hallway were our goals for this round. The beam may seem like a little thing, but the difference it has made is amazing! The room seemed incomplete as long as it remained unpainted. But, it is about 10 feet high, and close to a mile long…according to Jason’s calculations after he had finished painting. There was no way I was going to get up there, so Jason spent a good portion of one night balancing on the (almost) top rung of a 6-foot ladder! (Don’t I have the best husband ever?!) Thankfully, he survived the highwire act, and it looks so much better now that it matches the rest of the room!
We also were able to get the “Big Bird yellow†wall in the kitchen covered up. I think the real color was “Morning Light†or something equally poetic. But, I have re-named most of the colors that were originally used after various Muppets…Somehow, that seemed a little bit more descriptive. (Or, maybe that is just what is on the brain when you are the mommy of a 1-year-old!)Â
The kitchen is now a nice combination of “Coffee†and “Apple Red.â€Â And no, I did not rename those! I was perfectly happy with their original titles. Maybe that is part of why we picked them in the first place! It is much cozier.  I love it. It looks especially good at night! And, as an added benefit, it has given me great inspiration to keep it clean!Â
